Hello! My name is Christina
I am originally from Texas, but have lived in four states and nine cities before moving to Colorado in 2001. I am married to my best friend and I have four adult children. I enjoy music, travel, reading, being in nature, and connecting with people.
My Approach
I have experience counseling couples and pre-marital couples, men and women, teens and pre-teens, families including step-families, and groups. I received a Masters degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University and am licensed by the state of Colorado as a Professional Counselor. I have additional training in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, and Smart Step Family concepts; and I use several modalities in my counseling practice depending on the needs of the client, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Gottman concepts, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I strive to meet people where they are, and waste little time getting to core issues. I seek to see through the "lenses" of my clients, and help them discover where they want to be and how to get there. I provide a non-judgmental, caring and encouraging environment.
I also specialize in Christian counseling and provide this approach for clients who specifically request it. Christian counseling is a therapeutic approach that integrates Christian faith principles and clinical, evidence-based methods to promote holistic mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Ethical Counselors respect the client's individual beliefs and denominations, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for exploration, regardless of their specific faith background. Counselors may encourage discussion of Christian values, explore relevant Bible verses, or help clients find ways to integrate their faith into their daily lives. Prayer, reflection on scripture, and spiritual guidance may be incorporated into the counseling process to offer support and promote healing. Someone might consider Christian counseling to address such issues as: challenges with faith or spirituality, mental health concerns, relationship issues or life transitions.
